TIPS ON SHOPPING FOR DESIGNER HANDBAGS

TIPS ON SHOPPING FOR DESIGNER HANDBAGS

I often get asked, "Which designer bag would I buy if I were going to invest in one?". It's a bit like having to pick your favorite child, but there are some brands you can rely on and trends worth investing in. According to popular belief, designer bags are an investment. Aside from the possibility of resale, the cost per wear is really great. Instead of focusing on the bag's style or trend, I consider the material it is made of. The majority of the bags I purchase are therefore well worth the cost.

1. The most crucial thing is to stay away from anything very "trendy."

I always begin by saying to avoid doing this. Despite the fact that the newest "it" bags may be tempting, they typically have the highest chance of going out of style in a short period of time. To ensure the greatest longevity and return on investment, choose more classic and timeless styles when making your purchase. Furthermore, they will hold their value over time and, in some circumstances, even produce revenue.

2. Consider Practicality

I believe the bag was purchased for use. If you want to make the most of the bag, consider how well it fits your particular lifestyle. Is a large purse with room for a laptop necessary, or is a hands-free cross-body bag best for running errands?

As a student, the leather tote bag is appropriate for me to hold all my laptop and notebooks. A crossbody bag definitely is befitting for my errands and for my classic styles, I always go for top handle bags. Even though I adore top handle bags if I were ever fortunate enough to have children, I don't believe will be using top handle bags but a big tote bag that can carry all my necessities. Always think about the function the bag must serve in addition to the bag's aesthetic before purchasing it.

3. Create a short list of the ones you love with pros and cons for each one

You can have your heart set on just one bag or you might want to start a collection and have several different types in mind. It's critical to completely understand your potential investment. You want to be assured that the bag will work hard for you if you're paying a lot of money. Having an adjustable strap, internal zip pockets, a pickpocket-safe closure, and robust leather may be necessary for this. Make sure it feels and looks beautiful since if you're going to spend a lot of money on a purse, it should be something you love.

Additionally, if you can, you must not order it online. This exchange must happen in-store if possible. But if that is not possible which is most of my case, you can always purchase it, check it out, and if it does not suit your lifestyle return it, by feeling the bag with your hands and comparing it to your attire it makes decisions easier. You undoubtedly will be able to identify if it is "the one” for you. On the other hand, if you order online, you can try to style the bag with different outfits to see if it suits your wardrobe. Despite how easy and convenient online shopping is, making a purchase like this requires a particular memory and sensation that is inexplicable if you travel to the store just for that experience. I don't have that privilege because I live in a small town, but when I do go to the city I try to go as much as I can to these shops for window shopping, even if I don't buy but I most certainly buy something before I leave.

4. Consider Pre loved or Vintage

This is something that I personally have done numerous times and am really passionate about. The satisfaction of spending less for the bag you have always desired is unmatched. Additionally, vintage may be the best option if you're searching for something a little more unusual.

If you choose to go for this route, there are a few considerations that you must make. I'm quite picky about this, especially the condition. Personally, I've never bought anything that didn't seem fresh or new. This is obviously not straightforward if it's an old, worn-out item, but keep in mind its value and rarity then probably I would have a look but will not buy it.

The second tip is to only buy from reputable online retailers. The most straightforward way to avoid being duped by fakes is to only purchase from reputed retailers who offer verification services and are experts in their field. The Real Real, Fashionphile, Luxury Promise, Sellier, and Vestiaire are some of my personal favorites. Now Farfetch has a section for preloved items you can be sure you aren't wasting money on counterfeit goods in this way.

5. Don’t be seduced by the price

Everyone enjoys a good price and a sale item, but keep saving up until you can afford the bag you really want.

6. Opt for brands that hold their value

Some handbags are investments in the best meaning of the word because, with good care, they either hold their worth or, in some cases, even increase in value. Chanel and Hermès should be your go-to brands, without a doubt. For example, Hermes only produces a few bags each year, which results in a persistent supply shortage and price increases for their handbags. In my opinion, they are the safest form of investment. She might not be anything you ever want to sell, but if you do, you'll get the best deal. The stocks and shares I choose are those!

Happy handbag shopping!
