REWEAR WHAT'S IN MY CLOSET

REASONS I ENOY REPEATING MY CLOTHES

I enjoy shopping and buying items that bring me joy. I would not call myself a minimalist just because I love to try new things but as I am growing, and my style is much defined now, in that, I know exactly what I love and why I want them in my closet, I have reduced the rate at which I use to shop. My preferences have shifted so much. I've noticed that I'm making more favorable and long-term decisions. As I discover more about who I want to be and who I'd like to be, I make decisions and take steps in the right direction.

I'm interested in discovering new brands, learning more about materials, understanding the processes, and, most importantly, loving the pieces I already possess. Now, in purchasing anything, I ask myself if the item can be styled in more than five ways by combining with items that already exist in my closet and if the answer is a definite “YES”, then I go for it. I realized this since I started buying more high-end pieces. Because they are pricey, you must consider whether they are important for your wardrobe before purchasing, and that is something I admire about myself now.

The bulk of us, regardless of where and how we shop, add items to our closets because we adore them. There are so many ways to infuse joy into our personal style: either we fall in love with the color, we are head over heels for the trend, we enjoy the statement a piece makes or we adore how they make us feel. These are some of the reasons why we buy some items and add them to our closet but in all, do we stop to think about how the item can be incorporated into our daily outfits or various items in our closet to make it functional.

It all comes down to the outfits I style throughout seasons and the clothing that provides me small joys, even on difficult days. It's the looks I wear over and over again, the looks I adore, the looks that define my particular style. Wearing the same clothes over and over again is a means of expressing, defining, and enjoying who you are. Wear whatever makes you happy!

When we acquire something, we typically talk about lowering our cost per wear, but the truth is that we don't need to actively seek to lower our cost per wear if we already love wearing it. Clothing that is adaptable, classic, and 'you' - regardless of the initial price - comes naturally to the process. If we are buying expensive handbags or shoes, we want to have the most wear of them, so personally, I try to choose colors that can combine very well with the outfits in my closet so that I can use my accessories more often. One thing I also do is to make sure for the few months I purchase an item, I use the crab out of it so that I feel I have made a good decision buying that item. It doesn't get boring reusing an item you enjoy and love styling hence it is important to think about what you are about to purchase in order not to feel forced.

There's my fashion advice - if you want it! Wear that blazer you feel great in for work tomorrow, toss on that cardigan you've been eyeing for months every night this week, and style that pair of boots from last season throughout this season to learn more about your particular style. Fashion is full of excitement, expressiveness, and enjoyment, and repeated ensembles will only add to that experience, I guarantee!

Well, I'd love to hear your thoughts on outfit repeating and whether you believe social media has influenced how we perceive seeing the same pieces over and over? I'm curious whether outfit/piece repetition is how you discovered or blended your particular style. I would love to hear from you about what makes you repeat items that are already in your closet and what informs your decisions before you purchase any item. Let us discuss it in the comment section below.
