GLITZ, SEQUINS, AND FRINGES
NEW YEAR PARTY OUTFITS
If there’s one thing that fills me with sheer joy about this time of year, it’s dressing up for various events at the end and beginning of a new year. This isn’t because I’m a princess and refuse to wear something more than once (if I love something I will wear it till it’s no longer in existence) but I like to wear lots of new items and accessories for the sake of what I do and I enjoy putting outfits together. You guys wouldn’t want to see me in the exact same dress every week, right, because you need much more fashion inspiration from me. But on a lot of occasions, I do like to style the same dresses with different accessories, giving my older accessories a new lease of life with some new sparkles and even switching up my makeup for events too.
I am absolutely jam-packed for December and new year’s since I will be traveling and have lots of events to attend. I have been for a few months now, but although I’ve been somewhat more organized than in previous years, there are still outfits I need to put together for multiple events. Most of the outfits I am styling are items that are already in my closet. I will try to link them or if they are out of stock I will definitely link other items of similar styles. If you’re about to be in the same predicament as me then hopefully this is the perfect post for you too! Let’s get styling!
SASSY SEQUIN DRESS
It’s New Year’s therefore, it’s worth it to add some sequins to your wardrobe, Right??. You may just add a hint of sequins as an accessory but let’s be honest if you can’t push the boundaries and wear a sequin dress when can you? It is the end of the year, Light up!!!
This Alexie shift dress is the perfect mix of great quality and festive fun and even better it can be teamed with my favorite shoes already sitting in my wardrobe. The backless style and high neck make this dress very sassy, elegant but yet sexy without being provocative. A mid-thigh hemline doesn’t have to mean shivering all night so you can add beautiful tights to make it complete. A black strappy heel sandal goes perfectly with this then I paired it with a beautiful Bottega Vaneta purse.
Another sequin dress I love to wear around this time of year is this beautiful yet simple shirt dress from Karen Millen. It has its glitz running through it. It is very magical for every event.
Just because it’s a Christmas or New year’s party doesn’t mean you have to forgo wearing your trusty Winter Coat, in fact, throwing on a beautiful seasonal coat over a sparkly dress is one of my favorite contrasts and anything that keeps you warm before the dancing starts is a bonus in my eyes! I put a tweed jacket from Zara over my shoulder to keep me warm and also give a pop of color.
3. GLITZ AND GLAMOUR DRESS
The glitz of new year gets everywhere including what we wear. Definitely, a great time to wear all the glamorous outfits in our closet. With this look, I love the simplicity, but I guess that is why it makes it so elegant. Although a mini dress, it has this gorgeous look. For some sparkle and glamour, without coating yourself in sequins, this beautiful metallic number from Roland Mouret is absolutely perfect. I feel like a million-dollar bill wearing this dress. The movement is beautiful, and the length is truly flattering and sexy without being provocative. The texture of the dress, when placed alongside the metallic accessories, really looks festive and party worthy. I adore wearing this with red or silver with blue; the two colors are a fantastic combination, either way. This is comfortable, flattering, and really beautiful, and I feel so many ladies will be opting for this little number for Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. I paired this beautiful dress with these amazing Perspex shoes from Amina Muaddi. The glitz on top of these shoes makes everything sparkly.
2. THE FRINGES
You can’t think about festive dressing without thinking about styling a little fringy dress for the season. We all know how flattering the classic shift dress is but this time with a little bit of adornment which is the fringes. This dress from Parker is an absolute vibe. I love that it is white, and the frills and fringes make dancing at parties totally adorable. It makes the most movement so if you do not know how to bougie, this is the best camouflage dress. Fringes are totally on-trend, and it is instantly recognizable in the crowd. I wore this dress on my birthday last year and everyone loved it and I guess it would be great for the New Year’s Eve party. I’ve loved wearing this over and over again. It is such a great buy.
It is party season after all so adding a bit of fun into the mix is the simple way to update the LWD for Christmas and New Year. I paired this dress with Manolo Blahnik shoes and a beautiful purse from Aldo to go with it.
