KEY FASHION TRENDS FOR FALL/WINTER 2023

KEY FASHION TRENDS FOR FALL/WINTER 2023

Today I am talking about six fashion trends for this fall/winter and links to some wearable trends for you to purchase. These practical actions complemented the season's most popular style: simple, everyday clothing made from top-notch fabrics. There were many costumes that one could easily picture putting on before facing the day on the runways of Bottega Veneta, Miu Miu, and Loewe. The difference, if you're rolling your eyes at a publication extolling the virtues of clothing you can actually wear, was in the little details that turned them from unremarkable to magazine-worthy: a pair of socks made of peachy-soft leather at Bottega Veneta, for example, or a chain connecting the hem of an oversized white shirt to a shoulder at Loewe, giving its silhouette an artistic ripple.

  1. THE REAL TALK :

The season's most wearable designs have a straightforward chicness to them that initially seems predictable. Pair your baggy blue jeans with a striped shirt and a trench like the Gucci woman and her clones buying coffee in Brooklyn; take one grey hoodie and pair it with a strong-shouldered camel coat and leggings like the Miu Miu girl on the way to spin class in Notting Hill. However, such casual luxury has exquisite details: the trench coat from Fendi is laced with beige sequins, and the blue trousers from Bottega Veneta are made of paper-thin leather. This year it’s all about simplicity and beautiful fabrics.

2. THE BLACK COAT

The important piece of clothing for next season doesn't immediately send your heart racing. A strictly tailored black coat, though, makes anything feel just right again. If you make a sensible choice, you'll continue to wear yours for many years.

3. THE WHITE SHIRTS

White shirts have long served as a wardrobe staple, but this season they take center stage in the capsule of timeless looks. Take them long and lean with the gown-like shapes sweeping the floor at Valentino, go boyish and combine yours with a stylish miniskirt at Prada, or savor the simple appeal of a pinstriped style coupled with boxers at Bottega Veneta.

5. THE EXECUTIVE SUIT

Within corporate communications, things are becoming hot. Shirt and tie ensembles, which have been on the cusp of a breakthrough for the past several seasons, have made a comeback and became runway mainstays at Dior, Valentino, and Alexander McQueen. At Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton, pinstripes are competing for employee of the month while striking a C-suite note. The essential silhouette for fall is supported by a powerful shoulder that is unavoidable at Balenciaga and elsewhere. Dress for the job you want, we advise.

6. SCARF DRESSING

The sharp tailoring at Saint Laurent and The Row as well as evening gowns at Giorgio Armani were all covered in blankets, scarves, and shrugs this fall, so there's no need to worry about the cold. Consider going in a tonal route, like Daniel Lee at Burberry and Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski at Hermès or make a cheeky brooch your investment. By using pins in the form of miniature brass instruments, Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton secured extraordinarily long, hand-knit scarves.
