CHICAGO

CHICAGO

Smitten by Chicago and all the Architectural Wonders.

Chicago is one of the cities in the Midwest that I enjoy traveling to any time. I love Chicago, PERIOD!!!!. It has got energy like no other place. You cannot be in the USA and not travel to Chicago. I have been there twice in both the Summer and Winter seasons, and I truly enjoyed myself both times. Of course, summer is the best season to travel to this amazing city. I say so because I dread the weather in Winter and Chicago is massively cold during the wintertime.

I got so much done and a lot of beautiful places to visit in the Summer than I did in the Winter. The only thing I loved in the winter much more than architecture is the lighting of all the Christmas trees and street decorations in the city. As a blogger, that brings joy to my heart but hell, it was so cold that you couldn’t even step out to take nice pictures. Well, I still managed to get a few lovely places covered. Most of these pictures were from the Summer and a few from the Winter. I must say Chicago is beautiful. Not forgetting their delicious food, lively people, great entertainment centers, beautiful restaurants, massive theatres, exquisite beaches and “whew”, you can party all night long. I guess I can say Chicago has it all and that’s why I love the city.

  1. The Bean

The Bean is a work of public art in the heart of Chicago. It is one of the sculptures that caught my attention in Chicago and what makes it even enjoyable is that it is outdoors, and you need not pay anything to visit the Bean. The sculpture, which is officially titled Cloud Gate, is one of the world’s largest permanent outdoor art installations. The monumental work was unveiled in 2004 and quickly became of Chicago’s most iconic sights. The Bean is located in Millennium Park, the lakefront park in Chicago’s downtown Loop. Such as amazement to behold and I encourage any person on vacation in Chicago to pay a visit to the beautiful art of work.

2. The Brachiosaur (Grant Park Field Museum)

Chicago is the only city where you get to play with dinosaurs. I visited this museum during my summer vacation. Outside The Field Museum is a large and lonely Brachiosaurus. One of the memorable days of my vacation because I have a story behind this day. I remember I made new friends with an old couple who were very much happy to have seen me. They actually offered to pay for my ticket to the museum and asked if they could have lunch with me after the visit. I went into the museum together with them and oh my goodness, they told me so many stories surrounding the amazing arts.

And the sculptures were breathtaking. I can say that was one of the best memories I had of my vacation. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go for lunch with them, but I got a lot of knowledge and history lessons. Well in as much as people say big cities are scary, without disputing that fact, there are equally amazing people you can meet. This museum is just opposite Millenium Park and easily accessible.

3. Millennium Park

There is a lot to see at millennium park. Aside from the amazing architecture and sculptures, there are so many open spaces for people to have fun. Especially if you travel in the summer, most people are enjoying outdoorsy activities. On my visit, we saw a lot of kids dancing and enjoying the water from the Crown Fountain which is in the pictures above. I also had the opportunity to enjoy some amazing songs from a concert that happened to be going on when I was there at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Most people were out there; some having picnics, exercising, or enjoying the music. It was overwhelmingly fantastic but the most amazing part of it all was that it was free to do all that. It is quite not exciting when you visit in winter as it is in Summer. I know I keep stressing that but that is the truth.

4. The Navy Pier

Another exciting place I went to during my visit in the summer was the Navy Pier. One of my friends I traveled with knew someone there, so we went in and had a blast. We had a great picnic and was exciting to see some dancers on the ships. They played very loud music for these dancers. I went there on July 4th, which is American Independence Day, so in the evening, I witnessed one of the amazing fireworks I have ever seen. It was really breathtaking and enchanting.

5. River Walk

I would like to introduce the Riverwalk right at the center of the city to you. What an astonishing sight to behold. That sealed the deal for me. Chicago is beautiful. I remember having dinner right along the riverwalk and there was a live band playing beautiful songs. I even danced a little bit and really had a great time. In the evening, it was like being in the city of lights and all you could hear was the rushing river. What an amazing sight to behold? I did so many other things like riding on those water taxis at the Riverwalk.

6. Theatre/ Willie Tower

I also went to some theatres. I did other exciting things like going to the sky deck at Willis Tower to watch Chicago over a height. There was an evening we went to the tallest hotel for diner and “wow”, great food, great music and the icing on the cake was amazing sight looking down through the glass window. I even went to the club for the first time, Oh Yes. It was such an experience. I remember joining a group of people whom we just met at the beach for a party, and well, words cannot express how much dancing we did. My friends were very wild and out of the ordinary, and that helped me open up to new experiences. Overall it was a great trip, worth every second of my time. There were so many great memories I made and will forever cherish them. This content cannot say all the beauty I saw until you see it for yourself. Hoping to go there soon but definitely in the summertime.

Going to share more personal pictures on my Instagram stories and highlights.

Thank you for taking the adventure with me.
